Position description


The S&P Global Credit Ratings Excellence Development (CREDit) Program is a three-year training & development program beginning in August 2017. The Program seeks to attract high achievers from a diverse pool of undergraduate institutions. Participants will be expected to work well within a team and demonstrate exceptional learning agility, creativity, and problem solving ability.


The program begins with a comprehensive four-week training program in New York focusing on a variety of areas, including: Accounting, Ratings Methodology, Risk & Compliance, Capital Markets, etc. Participants will continue with additional training throughout the remainder of the program. They will also be required to successfully complete required certifications exams during the program and pass a rigorous evaluation process.


Upon completion of the initial training, participants will be placed into rotations within our key Ratings teams: Corporates, Financial Services, Public Finance or Structured Finance. During these rotations, the Program Analyst will work in a structured learning environment. Upon successful completion of the program, the Program Analyst’s final rotation, based on the needs of the business, will determine his/her final placement.


Summary of Responsibilities


Program Analysts are responsible for conducting credit and recovery analysis related to a range of services provided to corporate, institutional and/or governmental clients. They will be part of a team that evaluates the overall credit worthiness of organizations and their ability to meet their financial obligations for traditional credit-based products as well as a variety of structured banking transactions.


Throughout the rotations, Program Analysts will also support teams that evaluate collateral pools, credit risk, structural considerations, legal considerations, and the ability of securitization issuers to meet their obligations to pay timely interest and repay principal for a wide variety of structured finance asset types.


Additional Responsibilities:

· Demonstrates an understanding of rating principles and methodology; has a working knowledge of S&P Rating’s criteria and aids in researching criteria development needs.

· Contributes to the analysis of credit using S&P rating methodology and standards, financial models, financial data, and financial statement analysis, ultimately producing ratings recommendations.

· Takes responsibility for performing variance analysis and interpretation of results.

· Projections.

· Aid in identifying market trends, client developments and client’s financial

· Coordinates with global & regional offices to ensure data is treated consistently across international borders and available to S&P's global network.


Location

· First, second, and third rotations in Beijing

· Final rotation/permanent placement: Beijing & possible mobility across the Asia region


Qualifications and Skills

· Completion of a bachelor’s or master’s degree by June 2017 within Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or a related business/quantitative discipline

· Learning agility, Creativity, and Problem-solving ability

· GPA equivalent to 3.2 or above

· Strong verbal & written communication skills

· The ability and the desire to learn to conduct your own analysis and research

· The ability to work in a deal-driven, collaborative work environment

· Proficiency in Chinese to interpret financial statements and to write reports

2017 Summer Internship Program – Beijing

Position description

The S&P Global Ratings 2017 Summer Internship Programme is a 10 week summer training programme commencing in June/July 2017. The Program seeks to attract high achievers from a diverse pool of undergraduate institutions. Interns will be expected to work well within a team and demonstrate exceptional learning agility, creativity, and problem solving ability.


Interns will also be offered the opportunity to assist S&P Global in achieving its mission of being one of the leading providers of the highest quality risk evaluations and analytical information to the world's financial markets. An intern’s responsibilities depend on the business group they support, but interns will typically work on projects that include providing timely and accurate quarterly financial statistics, providing data analysis, assisting in reporting, research and presentations, modeling, process improvement, and numerous ad-hoc writing projects.


Interns will also complete a group mock ratings committee project for the duration of the summer program. The teams will be provided with an unrated company or entity and will be responsible for all due diligence and research, in order to develop a suggested credit rating for the assigned entity. Teams will present their final recommendation at the end of the internship to a Ratings Committee, comprised of senior business leaders.


Qualifications and Skills

· Penultimate year undergraduate or master’s students with a minimum 2.1 or 3.2 GPA, or equivalent

· Strong verbal & written communication skills

· Fluency in English and Chinese

· Able to learn quickly, multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment

· Problem-solving, time-management, attention to detail and organizational abilities

· The ability and the desire to learn to conduct your own analysis and research

· The ability to work in a deal-driven, collaborative work environment is required

· Significant comfort level with suite of Microsoft Office products
